“A portrait is not made in the camera but on either side of it.” -Edward Steichen
THE FACE BEHIND THE NAME —
(The Portrait is the Window to the Soul)
An artistic representation of a person, in which the face and its expressions are predominant. The intent is to display the likeness, personality, and even the mood of the person through a stand-alone image.

Peering a little deeper behind the features that make up a person emerges a complex being with emotion and stature.

Captivating in nature, each person has a fascinating story, if we take the time to understand and listen.
I try to teeter on the line of familiarity and uncomfortability. A quick witted joke or a side-ball comment from behind the camera, can sometimes be the magic element to bring the essence of a person from their own heart to highlight in the image.
People are so fascinating and beautiful in their own subtle ways.

Capturing the elements of what makes that individual unique in this world is an honor and a privilege for me as a photographer.
